Library Of Congress Digitizes Rosa Parks’ Letters And Photographs

Rosa parksThe Library of Congress has recently fully digitized an archived collection of Rosa Parks’ photographs, letters, writings, and personal notes. This digitized collection of 10,000 items once belonging to Rosa Parks will now be made available online for the public to see. A past legal battle between heirs and friends has kept this collection from the public for years. The collection was placed on long-term loan at the national library by philanthropist Howard Buffett who purchased the valuable historical items in 2014. “The library now holds about 7,500 manuscript items and 2,500 photographs from Parks, including the Bible she kept in her pocket, letters from admirers and her Presidential Medal of Freedom.” The legendary civil rights leader passed away in 2005 at the age of 92.
