Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia Has Passed Away
United States Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has passed away yesterday of natural causes during a hunting vacation in Texas. Justice Scalia was one of the leading conservative voices on the Supreme Court and there is likely going to be a major confirmation battle over his replacement. Leading Republicans are already saying that the appointment for Scalia’s replacement should be made by the next President so that the public can have a chance to vote on the issue. President Obama has already announced that he intends to appoint a Supreme Court Justice to replace Justice Scalia. It is not clear how the Senate will react if President Obama appoints a Supreme Court Justice. Antonin Scalia was appointed by President Reagan in 1986 and his tenure has had a tremendous impact on shaping the court.
