Hospice Director Accused Of Murder Of Patient
The director of a not for profit hospice care service has been charged with the murder of one her patients. Allegedly, Monica Patterson conspired with another to kill a 96 year old man in the care of her service in order to steal from his estate. She and the co-conspirator went to the patient’s home, threatened the caretaker that was assigned, and suffocated the man with a pillow before leaving. In addition, Patterson is accused of misusing over $100,000 in funds from the hospice service to pay for trips, clothes, and a party for her son. She has pled not guilty to all charges but is facing a capital murder charge that could result in the death penalty. The next court hearing is currently scheduled for April 4.
