The Age A Person Becomes Eligible For Medicare

MedicareMany people assume that Medicare is just for those who reach retirement, but the program covers more than just retirees.  Medicare currently covers more than 55 million Americans, and more than 84 percent of those covered are over the age of 65, but the remaining number of people receiving coverage under Medicare are those with disabilities.  This article discusses how some people may be eligible for Medicare before they reach the age of 65 if they have a “qualifying disability.”  There are certain rules and requirements that this article briefly discusses which people should know about when applying for Medicare.  It is also important to understand how some people can continue to “work and receive Medicare disability benefits for a transition period under Social Security’s work incentives and Ticket to Work programs.”
