Famed Teen-Aged Thief Crowdfunds To Preserve Dying Mother’s Body
For most teenagers, figuring out how to drive a car or get into college are the major concern of life. But for one teen, those concerns never held the same sway. Colton Harris-Moore, aka the “Barefoot Bandit,” became an internationally renowned thief after his crime spree through the Pacific northwest over a several year period which eventually saw him stealing a plane and flying to the Bahamas. But, as always, the time on the run came to an end and he is currently serving a six year sentence. However, while in prison, he is being faced with the loss of his dying mother and has set up a crowdfunding page to pay for cryogenic preservation in an attempt to have some chance of being reunited with her. While he has admitted that it is unlikely that the plan will work, be it financially or scientifically, he feels the long-shot is worth it for the simple fact that it gives hope where none would exist otherwise. While it is easy, and right, to condemn him for creating his own mess, his hope to be reunited with his loved ones despite death is understandable feeling if there ever was one.
