Insurers Issue Warnings About Affordable Care Act
A group of health insurers are sounding off warnings about the sustainability of the ObamaCare marketplaces. As they seek premium increases these insurers say they are losing money in their ObamaCare plans at a rapid rate and some are even threatening to drop out of the marketplaces entirely. Some insurers are warning that if they are not able to raise premiums there could be a system wide collapse of the exchanges. This situation could create a political problem for Democrats entering a Presidential year. Lawmakers will need to act fast to try to deal with this problem of rising health insurance premiums. There are members of congress on both sides of the political spectrum who are offering proposals for fixing some of the problems with the marketplace. This issue will likely become more important as premiums continue to rise.
