Should A Long-Term Care Benefit Be Included In Medicare?
There are many people who incorrectly believe that Medicare pays for long-term supports and services (LTSS). Members of congress have been debating about whether Medicare should be expanded to cover long-term care expenses. This article discusses the idea of creating a Medicare long-term care benefit. The elder population is continuing to increase and many people are going to need expensive long-term care. There are pros and cons to expanding Medicare to include such coverage that law makers will need to work out. It is important for lawmakers to address this issue as the need for long-term care becomes greater. If action is not taken more senior citizens could face heavy financial burdens paying for this sort of treatment. Congressional leaders should be proactive about finding a solution as soon as possible.
