Article On Estate Liabilities In Poland
Mariusz Zalucki (Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Kracow University) recently published an article entitled, New Rules on Liability for Inheritance Debts in Poland: Road to a Single European Law?, European Review of Private Law 2/2016 . Provided below is an abstract of the article:
Inheritance law of some European countries is going through transformation. The discussion on the future of inheritance law in Europe has not been completed yet, and it may be argued whether it has even started. One of the key issues is the area of liability for inheritance debts, as in any system of inheritance law the related rules decide about its image. A proposal to change the system of responsibility for inheritance debts has been recently enacted by the Polish legislature. The article presents the basic problems of the new Polish legislation and suggests that this could be a starting point for discussing this area on a larger, European scale.
