New Medicare And Medicaid Services Proposals Try To Lower Drug Costs
There are new proposals from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicaid Services that will try to test ways to lower the costs of prescription drugs. These proposals were made because the current payment methodology for drugs that are covered under Medicare Part B is not working properly. “This is why the Center for American Progress strongly supports a proposal by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, or CMS, to test new ways to pay for these medications.” This article discusses how the current payment structure can increase costs by influencing prescription patterns. It discusses the two phases of the proposed rule changes and how those changes will hopefully help to reduce the costs of prescription drugs for the people who depend on them.
