Court Adds Seven New Cases To Merits Docket

Among them is Sveen v. Melin, a case that involves spouse-beneficiaries and state laws that automatically revoke their beneficiary status upon divorce. The question before the court is whether this is a violation of the Constitution’s contracts clause.
