The law of succession is a critical aspect of the law as it deals with what happens with the estate of a deceased person upon their passing away. Hence, it’s undeniably pertinent to understand what the subject of a WILL entails. That therefore is the aim of this paper which seeks to reveal what a WILL is in the simplest way. To achieve this, the paper makes use of a doctrinal method of data collection analyzed with the use of a thematic content approach method. The ensuing results, reveals unarguably the necessity for a will before the demise of a person as it greatly put to rest every possible difficulty that may arise in the absence of one. However, the paper recognizes also the negligent attitude of many when the subject of a Will is concern. That therefore necessitated the need for recommendations such as a more effective means of public sensitization of the benefits of having a will.
