Maryland family orders prop casket for Halloween party, finds dead woman’s belongings, including her ashes

The Wozniak family of Baltimore, Maryland recently purchased what they believed to be a prop casket from Facebook Marketplace for a Halloween party. Once the casket arrived, the family found a dead woman’s belongings, including what they believe to be her ashes. They shared their experience on the video sharing platform, Tik Tok.

The items inside the casket include a photograph, death certificate, and hospital bracelet worn by Edith Crews, a 74-year-old pastor who died earlier this year of COVID-19. Sabrina Jones, Crews’s granddaughter, was alerted to this discovery through Tik Tok and her family was able to retrieve the belongings. The Crews family had previously rented a casket through Freeman Funeral Services, where Edith was later cremated.
