Jimmy Buffett’s Will Appoints His Wife as Executor of His Estate
Legendary singer-songwriter and entrepreneur Jimmy Buffet passed away last month at age 76 in Sag Harbor, N.Y. He appointed his wife of more than 40 years, Jane Buffet, as executor of his estate. Buffet’s will has also appointed his business partner, John. L. Cohlan, to step in as needed.
Buffett’s estate was filed in Palm Beach County, Florida where he was a longtime resident and used his will to funnel most of his assets to a revocable trust created in 1990. The will does not contain a public inventory of his assets or reveal any of the holdings of the James W. Buffet 1990 Trust, although it is noted that his intellectual property rights are assigned to the trust.
