Remnants of a Nuclear Missile Are Found in a Garage
In Bellevue, Washington, the bomb squad was called to inspect a Cold War-era missile found in a resident’s garage. The missile, identified as a Douglas AIR-2 Genie designed to carry a nuclear warhead, was missing its warhead and deemed inert. The resident had offered to donate it to an Air Force museum in Ohio, as it belonged to his late neighbor. Since the missile didn’t pose a threat and the military didn’t request its return, the police left it with the resident for donation. This unusual find prompted surprise among authorities, as responding to calls about military relics isn’t common in the area.
