Unresponsive Brain-Damaged Patients May Have Some Awareness

Screenshot 2024-08-19 at 1.10.10 PMJames Bernat, a professor emeritus of neurology, is quoted in an article about a large study that suggests that up to a quarter of brain-damaged patients who are unresponsive may have some awareness. “This is, without a doubt, the largest study that’s ever been done,” Bernat said. “It’s done by the best people at the best places, so we’re not going to be seeing a better one coming down the pike in a long, long time.”
