Mom accidentally vacuums up grandpa’s ashes after kids dumped them on carpet

A mom in Colorado was shocked to find out that she accidentally vacuumed up her grandfather’s ashes which she mistook for dirt.

In a viral TikTok video, Monica Long said her two young sons got hold of the container that contained ashes from her “Paw Paw” and poured them out on the carpet.

Long said she thought it was dirt and vacuumed it up – until she noticed Paw Paw’s cross-shaped container was empty.

“The boys got Paw Paw. They got him, and they dumped him out all over my carpet, and I didn’t realize it was Paw Paw, and I vacuumed him up,” Long said in the video.

Thankfully, the mom had a good sense of humor about it all. She put a label on her vacuum that says “Paw Paw,” and she later tucked the vacuum into bed after saying Paw Paw had a long day.

Commenters on TikTok expressed their sympathy but also commended the mom for finding humor in an unfortunate situation.

“Well, hopefully, Paw Paw has a good sense of humor,” one wrote.

“He got to play w/his grandkids one last time,” another wrote.

In a follow-up video, Long said her grandfather “absolutely” would have found the situation funny.

“He would definitely get a kick out of this whole ordeal,” she said.
