New Probate Rule in Ontario
A new probate rule that came into effect with the new year on January 1, 2015, requires additional filing requirements be met by executors of estates in Ontario. The new rule requires an executor to file an Estate Information Return, which includes a list of all estate assets and a description of how valuation of the estate was conducted. The new rule applies to executors that apply for probate after the rules’ effective date.
