Hitler’s Parent’s Tombstone Marking Removed
At the request of a descendant, the tombstone marking atop Hitler’s parent’s grave has been removed from an upper village cemetery in Austria. Austrian graves are usually leased for a period of ten years with an option to renew or will the lease to friends or relatives. The rented grave is now available for new lease.
The stone had a faded black and white picture of Alois and Klara Hitler and the requesting party had her relative hire a stonesman to remove it. The descendant who requested the removal is an elderly female descendant of Alois Hitler’s first wife, Anna. She wanted to remove the stone because she was too old to take care of it, and she was tired of people using it to manifest sympathy for Hitler.
The stone was in the village of Leonding, where Hitler lived from age 9-15. Neo-Nazis often come to the grave and leave flowers and Nazi symbols to honor Hitler.
The mayor of Leonding says that both he and the village were happy with the decision to remove the tombstone.
