You Would Be Set For Retirement if You Won New England’s New “Lucky For LIfe” Lottery

Unknown-1Six New England States have joined together to create a regional game in hopes of stimulating over 14.4 million residents to buy lottery tickets and provide a larger prize to the winner. On Sunday, “Lucky for Life” tickets will go on same in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine for $2 a ticket. The top prize will be $1,000 per day for the rest of the winner’s life.

Lottery officials from the six participating states have been collaborating for nine months to arrange the game. They wanted to come up with something different and provide a larger prize because people are no longer drawn by a $20 million jackpot. One lottery official says that in addition to the larger prize, New Englanders will likely play a regional game because they will feel a kinship with their neighboring states. New Hampshire currently shares the Tri-State Megabucks with Vermont and Maine, and that game has shown that the multi-state games can be successful.

The drawings for this new game will be held in Connecticut every Monday and Thursday, starting on March 15. The drawings will be shown on Connecticut television, but they’ll be streamlined on the other state lotteries’ websites. Players choose five numbers out of forty, and also choose a “lucky ball” number from twenty-one. The $1,000 a day is not the only way to win; Players can win nine other ways with one-time prizes from $2 to $25,000. The odds of winning this jackpot are 1 in under 14 million, while the odds of winning a powerball are 1 in 175 million, so lottery officials suspect that these superior odds will also draw players to the game.
