A Slayer Case Begins

Entwistle_neil_2Neil Entwistle is accused of murdering his wife and daughter.  A conviction would trigger any applicable slayer statute which would prevent him from inheriting from or taking under the wills of his victims.

What is “interesting” about this case is the recent revelation that four days before the murders, Neil did a Google search for the phrase “how to kill with a knife.”  But, defense attorneys will probably claim this is irrelevant because the victims were shot with his father-in-law’s gun rather than being stabbed.  “If the search doesn’t fit, you must acquit.”

See AP, Expert: Man Googled ‘how to kill, CNN.com, June 18, 2008.
