Cadavers With Bar Codes or RFID Tags
You probably have heard about the scandals arising after a person makes an anatomical gift and it is later discovered that the donor’s body or organs end up on the black market. To solve this problem, the University of California is considering affixing bar codes or implanting RFID devices into cadavers and organs to enable better tracking. See Michelle Locke, University Considers Barcodes for Cadavers (AP story reprinted on-line and in various newspapers such as San Antonio-Express News, Feb. 5, 2005, at 4A).
