Terri Schiavo — Update 14

A  panel of the 11th United States Circuit Court of Appeals by a 2-1 vote decided earlier today (March 23, 2005) that Terri’s feeding tube does not have to be reinserted.  Accordingly, Terri’s process of dying by starvation/dehydration continues.

In the court’s words:

“We agree that the plaintiffs have failed to demonstrate a substantial case on the merits of any of their claims. We also conclude that the district court’s carefully thought-out decision to deny temporary relief in these circumstances is not an abuse of discretion.”

Terri’s parents plan to appeal the decision to the United States Supreme Court.
