Contingency Planning: Avoiding the Schiavo Problem in Texas

On May 20, 2005 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. CST, the State Bar of Texas is sponsoring a telephone seminar entitled Contingency Planning: Avoiding the Schiavo Problem in Texas.

This seminar is:

[d]esigned for lawyers in every field of practice, [and] will help the Texas attorney in making plans for financial and medical care and in providing knowledgeable and cost-effective legal support to clients facing the same concerns. Events that may be anticipated may be addressed with a number of tools that allow management of affairs without interruption.

Included in the registration price is the State Bar of Texas’ publication Contingency Planning: The Texas Practitioner’s Guide to Powers of Attorney and Other Alternatives to Guardianship. Forms include statutory durable, medical, and real estate powers of attorney; directives to physicians and family; and declaration of guardian. Among the other valuable resources in Contingency Planning are simple alternatives for administering the assets of minors or the infirm and specific forms that can be used to minimize court-supervised administrations.
