Potato Chips Substituted for Cremains

When Mom died, her ashes were placed in a cedar chest in a niche at a mausoleum in Houston, Texas.  The niche has a locked glass door so visitors may view the cedar chest.

Sometime in 2004, Mom’s daughters visited the niche and discovered that the cedar chest had been replaced with a can filled with sour cream and onion potato chips.  Later investigation revealed that the can had been visible in the niche for at least six months.

To this day, Mom’s ashes still have not been recovered.  The daughters have now brought suit against the mausoleum and the funeral home which was in charge of Mom’s cremation.
