Cannon to Blast Hunter Thompson’s Ashes — Update

An earlier entry on this blog discussed how the late Hunter S. Thompson’s ashes were going to be shot out of a cannon.

Plans are progressing smoothly towards an August 20, 2005 blast.  The event will take place from a 150 foot tower in the back yard of Thompson’s home in Woody Creek which is near Aspen, Colorado.

The actor, Johnny Depp, is taking a leading role in carrying out Thompson’s wishes and has even hired a an event planner from Beverly Hills to supervise the ceremony which will be closed to the public.
