Baby Born to Dead Woman Dies

In early August, I discussed the case of Susan Torres who was declared brain dead but kept on machines for almost three months until she gave birth to her daughter.

Although the child was originally given an 80% chance of survival, she died yesterday (September 12, 2005) due to heart failure during surgery to repair a ruptured intestine.
