More Problems for Getty Trust

Several months ago, I reported on the problems besieging the Getty Trust.   Recent reports reveal that the problems are continuing.

Marion True, the antiquities curator who is already facing a criminal indictment in Italy, has resigned over allegedly improper activities involving self-dealing and conflicts of interest.  See Hugh Eakin, Embattled Getty Curator Steps Down, NY Times, Oct. 4, 2005.  Here is an excerpt from Mr. Eakin’s article:

In a statement, the Getty said that Ms. True stepped down over the weekend after the museum reviewed information about her purchase of a vacation home on the Greek island of Paros in 1996.

“The Getty has determined through its own investigation that Marion True failed to report certain aspects of her Greek house purchase transaction in violation of Getty policy,” it said. “In the course of discussions with Ms. True, she chose voluntarily to retire.”
