Scott Peterson Will Not Receive Wife’s Life Insurance Proceeds

Death row inmate Scott Peterson learned on Friday (October 21, 2005) that he will not be able to receive the proceeds of his wife’s $250,000 life insurance policy.  The judge ruled that the California slayer statute prevented him from receiving the money because he was convicted of her murder.  The proceeds will pass instead to his wife’s mother.

Special thanks to Christopher Harris and David S. Luber for bringing this newest development in the Peterson case to my attention.
