Organ Donation Receives Media Attention
Occasionally, the media gives special attention to organ donation when an especially compelling case arises. Such a case was recently reported.
A soldier serving in Iraq learned that this wife and son had died in a car accident and that his daughter was hospitalized. When he returned to the United States, he discovered that his daughter was brain dead. He was asked whether he would be willing to donate her organs and he agreed. Although the names of the individuals helped because of his decision were not released, it is known that five children ages 8 to 18 were saved by his daughter’s organs.
