Medicaid Update
The ABA Center for Continuing Legal Education is sponsoring a teleconference and live audio webcast entitled Warning! Medicaid Changes Mean Old Planning Ideas May Not Work on Thursday, September 7, 2006, starting at 1:00 p.m. ET.
Here is a description of the program:
The Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (DRA) drastically altered Medicaid eligibility rules. As a result, estate and financial planning for long-term care that was effective prior to the Act may now face significant problems.
The DRA makes it more difficult for elders who need long-term care to qualify for Medicaid. Since more clients and/or their parents will require long-term care, proper planning becomes crucial, even years before the need arises.
Join our expert faculty for a review of the DRA as it affects Medicaid eligibility and estate planning.
The faculty includes:
- Bernard Krooks, Partner, Littman & Krooks, LLP, New York City, NY
- Michael Gilfix, Principal, Gilfix & La Poll Associates, LLP, Palo Alto, CA
