Massachusetts Voters Might Get Chance to Outlaw Same-Sex Marriage
Earlier today (January 2, 2007), the Massachusetts legislature approved a measure which could give its citizens the opportunity to outlaw same-sex marriage in a 2008 election (Massachusetts is currently the only state in which same-sex marriage is authorized). However, there was an immediate motion to reconsider the vote. This tactic could be successful in defeating the proposal. In addition, the next legislative session must also agree that the measure be placed on the ballot.
