Probate lawyer goes bad

A Galveston, Texas lawyer recently received a one-year, fully probated suspension from the practice of law for engaging in the following inappropriate conduct in a probate case as reported in Disciplinary Actions, 71 Tex. B.J. 492, 495 (2008):
   

[The] Grievance Committee found that [attorney] neglected his client’s probate case and failed to carry out the responsibilities owed to his client. Because of the ongoing neglect, [attorney’s] services were terminated and an accounting and refund was requested. [Attorney] failed to provide the accounting or return any unearned fees. [Attorney] failed to furnish the Chief Disciplinary Counsel’s office with a written response to the grievance.
   

To me, this evil conduct deserved an active suspension penalty and not a merely a probated one.
