Foreclosure impacts dead people
The impact of housing foreclosures on the living is obvious but there may also be an impact on dead people as reported in AP, Dead Removed After Funeral Home Falls Into Foreclosure, FOXNews.com, Oct. 24, 2008.
The House of Burns Memorial Chapel in Pontiac, Michigan was recently foreclosed. Five bodies and the cremains of 22 people were “evicted” and delivered the local medical examiner for storage. If a family member makes a claim, the remains will be transfered to another funeral home.
Because some of the remains date back to the 1990s, it is likely that some will not be claimed. I wonder what will happen to them?
