Steve Fossett’s Plane Found

According to Jia-Rui Chong and Steve Chawkins, Steve Fossett’s airplane found, LA Times, Oct. 3, 2008, search and rescue crews have located Steve’s plane — the identification number of Steve’s plane matches the wreckage.

The wreckage is spread out and the engine was found about 300 feet away.

It appears that Steve crashed head-on into the side of a mountain.  The plane then “slid” upward for about 100 feet as it disintegrated.

So far, no remains have been located.

Further efforts may be impeded as snow is expected.
