First same-sex marriage occurs in Connecticut
Earlier on this blog, I reported on the case of Kerrigan v. Commisioner in which the Connecticut Supreme Court by a vote of 4-3 ruled that same sex couples have a constitutional right to marry.
Today (November 12, 2008) just hours after the court’s ruling became final, the first same-sex marriage occurred between Peg Oliveira and Jennifer Vickery who live in New Haven.
A UCLA study estimates that 3,000 same-sex couples will get married in Connecticut in the next year.
