Happy 200th Birthday, Abe Lincoln

Today is President Lincoln’s 200th Birthday having been born on February 12, 1809 in Kentucky.

Despite being a skilled lawyer, as well as our Nation’s 16th President, he lacked the foresight to plan his estate failing to prepare even a basic will.  Accordingly, his property passed via intestate succession to his children with his wife receiving a dower interest in 1/3 of the estate.  See Elizabeth Little Papers, Lincoln Public Library, at 15.
