Astor Update: Trial Slowly Moving Along

Astor_brooke The following excerpts from a New York Times article provide an update on the trial against Anthony Marshall, Brooke Astor’s son:

Brooke Astor’s federal gift tax return was under reported by about $1.7 million in 2003, according to testimony on Wednesday in State Supreme Court in Manhattan, and prosecutors are blaming the shortfall on her son, Anthony D. Marshall, saying he hoped that the tax savings would raise the value of his inheritance.

. . .

If convicted of falsifying business records, Mr. Marshall faces up to four years in prison.
