Israeli Man Claims He Was Paid $20,000 for His Kidney
An Israeli man claims that four years ago he was paid $20,000 in exchange for donating a Kidney in the United States. He claims he answered an ad in a paper looking for a kidney donor, flew to Mount Sinai Medical Center, and lied during interviews with hospital staff regarding compensation.
Mount Sinai medical center stated that it comprehensively assesses a donor’s motive, but can be duped by skilled donors.
The World Health Organization estimates that ten percent of kidney transplants worldwide are illicit.
