Detroit: No Money to Bury Unclaimed Dead

Toe tag Wayne County, Michigan, reports 67 unclaimed bodies piled up in the morgue freezer.  The county, home of Detroit, ran out of funds for burying unclaimed bodies in June.

The state of Michigan has approximately $135,000 remaining in a $4.9 million fund for burial assistance.  The money is awarded based on grant applications available at Michigan.gov/dhs.
