Avoid Common Insurance Planning Mistakes

This presentation will focus on a series of life insurance planning mistakes which are commonly made both in an estate planning and in an employee benefit context.

In addition to identifying the common mistakes, the presentation will also offer suggestions for:

  • How to avoid those mistakes in planning for the use of life insurance in a client’s estate plan or in an employment context; 
  • How to avoid the “Goodman Triangle” that can cause life insurance proceeds to disappear into the gift tax; 
  • How to handle and learn about problems if a business owns insurance on an owner with a controlling interest; 
  • How to address traps in dealing with split-dollar arrangements.
