Death Tax can ‘R.I.P. Off’

Death taxThe London Standard reports that some political leaders in the United Kingdom may be considering a flat tax on death, possibly as much as £20,000 a death, to fund the country’s elderly care programs.  In response, the Tories put up posters containing, among other things, “a headstone with the words “R.I.P. Off.'” Joe Murphy, Gordon Brown and David Cameron clash over ‘death tax,’ London Standard, Feb. 10, 2010.

Special thanks to Joel Dobris (Professor of Law, UC Davis School of Law) for bringing this to my attention.
