Lottery Winner Who Didn’t Win Afterall

LotteryA deaf, South African man who works as a hardware store cleaner was thought to have won $12 million in the country’s lottery.  The subsequent requests for money from his family were so overwhelming that he and his family were moved to an undisclosed, safe location.  The greedy family jumped the gun, however, because the man’s ticket was purchased after the winning numbers were drawn and is thus worth nothing.

This greedy family didn’t even wait until their loved one died to fight over his suspected wealth.

See Reuters, Bad news for record lottery “winner,”  Feb. 2010.

Special thanks to David S. Luber (Attorney at law, Florida Probate Attorney Wills and Estates Law Firm) for bringing this to my attention.
