English High Court Could Address Validity of Prenuptial Agreements
A man in Britain is appealing a lower court decision regarding his prenuptial agreement to the country’s highest court. Nicolas Granatino signed an agreement renouncing claims to the fortune of his wealthy wife. While the High Court found the agreement void for unfairness, the agreement was a factor for the court in reducing the overall divorce settlement awarded to the man. Currently, English law does not recognize prenuptial agreements, and a ruling from the country’s highest court would become guiding law for English courts.
