Letter to Congress Urges Action on ‘Law of Unintended Consequences’

Estat tax

In November of 2007 Conrad Teitell (attorney, Florida; adjunct professor, University of Miami School of Law) testified at a congressional hearing entitled “Federal Estate Tax — Uncertainty in Planning Under the Current Law.”  At that hearing, Teitell recalls senator after senator criticizing the uncertainty of estate tax laws.

Fast forward over two years and the uncertainty remains. In response, this past May Teitell sent a letter to the Senate Finance Committee urging action on what he calls “the law of unintended consequences.”  The full letter is linked here.
