Attorney Disciplined for Claiming to Channel Client’s Dead Wife

Discipline Client first hired Johnson to represent him during his divorce proceedings. His wife committed suicide a few months later, and Johnson began to represent him in probate proceedings.

Johnson, Client, and two witnesses genuinely believed that Client’s wife was within Johnson and that the wife had returned to heal some of the damage caused by her prescription drug use.

Although there was insufficient evidence to prove that Johnson had a sexual relationship with Client, and the channeling did not adversely effect Johnson’s representation, the hearing officer recommended a six-month suspension for Johnson.
