Huguette Clark’s Fifth Avenue Apartment Could Be the Listing of the Century

907_Fifth_0 At the time of her death, Huguette Clark owned a massive apartment located at 907 Fifth Avenue in New York City. Clark did not live in the apartment for the last twenty-two years of her life though, choosing to reside, instead, in numerous hospitals until her death. Clark ensured that the 907 Fifth Avenue apartment stayed in pristine condition during her absence, paying for regular cleanings of the vacant apartment. New York brokers are now jumping at the opportunity to sell the mammoth apartment.

Clark and her mother moved into the apartments on 907 Fifth Avenue in 1925. At that time, the penthouse they occupied included twenty-eight rooms. Clark moved out of the apartment three years later, and her mother bought half of the eighth floor. Clark eventually moved back into the apartments, and took over half of the twelfth floor. When the other half of the eighth floor became available, Clark bought it as well.

Today, the 15,000 square foot apartment in Clark’s estate includes two floors, forty-two rooms, a thirty foot library, a forty foot drawing room, a forty foot living room, and views of Central Park. Similarly sized apartments have sold for $39 million in the last year, but the media has given Clark’s apartment a $100 million value. According to some real estate brokers, the apartment may actually be worth closer to $60 to $75 million.

Clark’s apartment may not be up for sale anytime soon, however, as both her attorney and account are under investigation for potentially tampering with Clark’s will.
