Teleconference and Live Audio Webcast on Long-Term Care Facilities

CLE The ABA Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law is sponsoring a 90-minute Teleconference and Live Audio Webcast on September 13, 2011 entitled Long-Term Care Facilities: Recent Trends in Acquisition and Finance. The program information is below:

Many skilled nursing facilities are facing a dual challenge of recently enacted Medicaid cuts and an 11% announced reduction in Medicare reimbursement. Further Medicare cuts also may be on the horizon as a result of the recent legislation to increase the federal debt limit. As a result of these and other governmental initiatives, including an increased trend towards home and community-based services, some nursing facilities will undoubtedly be sold, leased, or otherwise transferred as the market continues to consolidate.

This session will provide a timely overview of recent trends in the acquisition and financing of skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities of all types, including publicly-traded and privately-held, for-profit and non-profit, and urban and rural.

Our panelists will discuss:

  • New developments in buying and selling long-term care facilities;
  • New developments in financing the acquisition of long-term care facilities;
  • Licensure and certificate of need issues;
  • Medicare and Medicaid certification and enrollment issues;
  • Transparency requirements under Healthcare Reform;
  • Successor liability issues.
