Dispute Over Estate of One of Maui’s Richest Man

Money and gavelOne of Maui’s richest men, Lorance Dorcy, died in June at the age of 76. There is currently a dispute involving Dorcy’s $70 million-plus estate between a number of charities and Hans Kanuha, a Maui resident, who was listed as the sole beneficiary in a later will filed shortly before Dorcy died.

The charity-beneficiaries under the “first” will are claiming undue influence, and Kahuha is claiming that Dorcy created the “second” will because of Dorcy’s love for Kahuha. Filings by the charities state that Kanhuha took the sick and confused Dorcy into an unheated spa for an all-night party the day before Dorcy was taken to the hospital where he later died.
