John Tyler, the 10th president of the United States, was born 221 years ago and two of his grandchildren are still living. The Tyler men all had children during the later years of life. John Tyler had Lyon Gardiner Tyler at the age of 63. Lyon fathered Lyon Gardiner Tyler Jr. at age 71 and then Harrison Ruffin Tyler at age 75. Harrison and Lyon Gardiner Tyler Jr. are both still living today. This calculates out to three generations of the Tyler family spread out over 200 years. Overall, John Tyler had 15 children with two wives.
