Auction of Whitney’s Possessions

Images-1Next month, some of Whitney Houston’s possessions will be up for auction. A brown satin waistcoat, a black velvet dress, and pearl earrings that she wore in The Bodyguard are among the items to be auctioned. Darren Julien, boss of Julien’s Auctions, has defended how quickly after Whitney’s death these items are being bid on. He points out that the auction of the items is a celebration of her life. The items that are so closely connected to her should be on display in a museum instead of hidden. Many of her fans will never get a chance to meet her, so the items are a way to relate to her life.

Whitney’s family has been sure to sweep the hotel room that she died in so that there is nothing related to the singer remaining there that anyone could profit from. Houston’s funeral took place on February 19th in a private setting. Her co-star from The Bodyguard, Kevin Costner delivered a eulogy reminding her fans to remember “’the sweet miracle’” of the singer.
